Industrial pollution has become one of the worst problems ever faced by humanity. As the incidences of pollution are growing, so are the events in which a segment of population is exposed to dangerous chemicals. This exposure can result in serious consequences, including death, if proper treatment is not extended to these people.
It is not just the factories and industrial estates needing a proper cleaning regimen to ensure public safety. People living in houses, shopkeepers, grocery stores, fruit and vegetable markets, meat marts and hospitals, all require a proper cleaning arrangement to avoid pollution and contamination.
The main difference between industrial establishments, hospitas,l and common residential properties is the way they clean their stuff. As is evident from the procedures going on in the industries and hospitals, a lot of chemical and biological waste is generated every day. This waste cannot be cleaned through ordinary cleaning equipment like a broom. They need special decontamination equipment to ensure proper disposal of hazardous wastes.
The decontamination equipment comes in all shapes and sizes. Hospitals, for example, use syringe disposal system that involves a basic cutter. For medical wastes, they use sterilisation equipment that involves storage in big chambers. This waste is later sorted and treated as per the chemical or biological nature of the agents involved.
Industrial wastes are decontaminated in a more complex manner. The decontamination equipment used in this process is highly sophisticated and efficient. The output of most of these machines is hundreds of tons in an hour or even more. The most common type of industrial decontamination equipment is the treatment chamber. Also known as the treatment plant, this equipment is based on complex systems of machines. The industrial waste generated during the production is passed on to this plant at the end of the process. The treatment chamber then processes these chemicals and reduces their hazardous content.
After the treatment is completed, the waste is either deposited in a safe container to be disposed off later, or drained into the nearby rivers or streams. Similarly, the industrial gases produced during the production are also treated in the same manner. The treated combinations of gases are expelled through the chimneys into the atmosphere.
In ordinary cleaning processes, we adopt a completely different technique. If there is no fear of contamination, we just use the broom or a cleaning liquid to mop the floor. If any extra care is required, a chemical cleaner is added to the solution and the floors or any other equipment is washed with it.
The whole process hardly takes more than an hour. This is the perfect and normal cleaning solution. In fact, hospital and nursing homes also apply the same technique in areas where patient inflow is less and there is minimum danger of contamination like storerooms and wardrobes. Decontamination equipment may also be required in home if any chemical seeps through your water supply or if there is any presences of a chemical agent in your bathroom or kitchen.
